Top 7 Unbelievable Benefits Of The Most Aspired Champagne

on

Whenever we hear the word Champagne it reminds us of a grand and pompous celebration, something like post-race podium celebration or post-Wimbledon Tournaments. Champagne has always been associated with luxury and grandiose. One of the most famous fictional British secret service agents “James Bond” also popularized this famed drink by showcasing it more than 35 times in one of the longest-running film franchises. Champagne is one of the most popular types of drink known to humankind and of great inspirational value.

All Champagnes are white sparkling wine, but all Sparkling wines are not Champagne

Champagnes are a type of sparkling wine grown in the Champagne region of northeastern France. There are typically only three varieties of grapes known as Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay that used to produce the sparkling wine, which is allowed the name “Champagne.” Unlike other sparkling wines, Champagnes contain the typical bubbles through undergoing fermentation two different times, once in the barrels and again in the bottles.

Was Champagne an accidental discovery?

Just like many wonderful things under the face of the earth is a product of an accident. Champagne was also an invention of a major unintended goof-up. During the year 1688, a Benedict monk by the name of Dom Perignon took charge of the abbey in the Champagne region of North Eastern France. Due to the cold climatic conditions, the grape juices awaiting complete fermentation are removed by the monks from the barrels as they became too cold to continue proper fermentation and were bottled early.

Later during the summer months, the fermentation process automatically restarted in the bottled grape juice (pale pink), which resulted in the legendary bubbles in the finished products. Initially, the bubbles felt to be a serious defect, and the bottles were exploding due to the re-fermentation process.

Finally, when Dom Perignon tasted the exploded bottles of wine, everything changed. It felt like a mouthful of sparkling stars. Later heavier glassed bottles and specially made corks designed from Spain started storing these wines. Thus, the journey of humongous popular wine, aka “Champagne” started.
